Wal-Mart sells alcoholic beverages after noon on Sundays. The largest chain of retail stores in the world has recently announced its decision to make its début in the United States of America. It has applied for licences to stock alcoholic beverages in more than forty of its outlets, which are spread across the southern part of the state of California and the two states of Nevada and Arizona in the United States of America.
Tesco (which is the parent company of Wal-Mart) plans to open about 150 outlets of Wal-Mart within the next couple of years. Each of the stores will cover a surface area of approximately 10, 000 square feet. They will be smaller in area than most of the supermarkets in the United States of America. The first Tesco distribution centre will be located in the city of Riverside in the state of California in the United States of America, and will cover a surface area of about 1.4 million square feet.
